The Commerce with Professional Accounting program, started in 2012 with 50 students, has grown steadily and earned a strong reputation for academic excellence and co-curricular achievements. Supported by dedicated and experienced faculty, the department emphasizes innovative teaching methods, research, workshops, and industrial exposure. It focuses on holistic student development, nurturing professional competence, leadership skills, and ethical values to prepare students for successful careers in accounting and finance.
The Department’s undergraduate curriculum combines strong conceptual foundations with practical, industry-oriented learning. Through application-based coursework, value-added certifications, strategic industry exposure, and skill-focused training, the Department develops analytical thinking, ethical responsibility, and professional competence relevant to both the corporate sector and academic pathways.

Dr. Kanchana R brings 19 years of distinguished experience in teaching, research, and academic administration. She holds a Doctorate in Commerce, a Postgraduate Diploma in Computer Applications, and has served as a Senate Member of Bharathiar University. She has published extensively in UGC CARE, national, international, and Scopus-indexed journals. Recognized with the Teacher of Excellence Award (KG Foundation), the Global Innovative Educationist Award (Malaysia), and a World Record for Innovative Teaching Methods, she is actively involved in research supervision, curriculum development, and academic leadership. She also serves as a Ph.D. supervisor, Board of Studies member, and conference organizer.
To evolve into a center of academic excellence with utmost commitment to quality commerce education, thereby producing successful professionals with requisite skills, by imbibing professional ethics to meet the challenges of an ever–changing global business environment.
The Department offers an undergraduate commerce program designed to build professional competence in professional accounting, equipping students with the knowledge and skills required to perform effectively in accounting, banking, taxation, and corporate finance roles.

About the Industry Partner — Board Infinity
Board Infinity is a career intelligence platform that designs every curriculum backwards from employment — starting with what the industry needs and building to what students must learn. Their FinTech trainers combine financial domain expertise across banking, insurance, and investment with hands-on knowledge of digital payment systems, cloud accounting tools, and regulatory frameworks. Through their partnership with the Department of Commerce PA at KGCAS, they deliver the full FinTech Domain Lab curriculum across four active semesters, followed by internship and placement support.
About the FinTech Domain Lab
A specialised, industry-powered lab at KGCAS for B.Com PA students, run entirely by Board Infinity professionals. Students progress through Advanced Excel, financial modelling, digital finance, and emerging FinTech applications — with hands-on training on cloud accounting platforms and digital payment systems — culminating in an industry internship and dedicated placement support.
The Faculty and Research division of the Department brings together experienced academicians and dedicated researchers committed to academic excellence and continuous knowledge advancement. Through research activities, publications, and academic collaborations, the department actively promotes a culture of inquiry, critical thinking, and professional growth.
