About the Department

Established in 2008, the Department of Commerce with Information Technology bridges commerce and technology through an integrated curriculum blending core commerce principles with modern IT applications. The faculty comprises qualified experts across multiple domains, supported by a dedicated team fostering academic excellence and applied learning.

The department houses a fully equipped UG Laboratory and a vibrant research community in Commerce, Auditing, and Information Technology. Internships are mandatory after the fourth semester, alongside workshops, seminars, and international conferences that strengthen industry readiness. Final year graduates are consistently placed through the College Placement Cell. The alumni network stands as a testament to success, with former students holding leadership positions across the corporate world.

Bachelor of Commerce with Information Technology (B.Com. IT) is a specialized three-year undergraduate degree that bridges the gap between traditional commerce and modern technology. This course is designed to equip students with the skills to manage business operations using advanced digital tools and information systems. In our department, we provide fundamental commerce principles with IT applications like software development, database management, and network security, and learn to implement and manage information systems to improve organizational efficiency and decision-making.

About the Industry Partner — Board Infinity

Board Infinity is a career intelligence platform that designs every curriculum backwards from employment — starting with what the industry needs and building to what students must learn. Their FinTech trainers combine financial domain expertise across banking, insurance, and investment with hands-on knowledge of digital payment systems, cloud accounting tools, and regulatory frameworks. Through their partnership with the Department of Commerce IT at KGCAS, they deliver the full FinTech Domain Lab curriculum across four active semesters, followed by internship and placement support.

About the FinTech Domain Lab

A specialised, industry-powered lab at KGCAS for B.Com IT students, run entirely by Board Infinity professionals. Students progress through Advanced Excel, financial modelling, digital finance, and emerging FinTech applications — with hands-on training on cloud accounting platforms and digital payment systems — culminating in an industry internship and dedicated placement support.
