About the Department
The Department of Computer Applications was established in 2005 with the vision to advance higher education in modern computing — the discipline of designing, developing, and deploying technology solutions in a changing digital world. The Department offers an autonomous degree programme for evolving careers and futures in software development, data science, artificial intelligence, and other emerging technology domains.
The Department's undergraduate curriculum combines strong conceptual foundations in Computer Applications with practical, industry-oriented learning. Through project-based coursework, professional certification pathways, strategic industry exposure, and skill-focused training, the Department develops analytical thinking, ethical responsibility, and technical competence relevant to both the IT sector and academic pathways.

Dr. P. Vijayakumar serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Applications, bringing with him 25 years of extensive teaching and research experience. He was a member of the Senate at Bharathiar University for a period of three years. He has published over 30 research papers and has successfully guided 20 M.Phil scholars, along with two Ph.D scholars who have completed their doctoral programmes. He has also contributed as a Board of Studies member in several autonomous institutions. He has organized numerous national and international workshops and seminars, and has actively served as an organizing secretary and coordinator for various academic events and programmes. His area of specialization is Data Mining.

Students progress through the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite — Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dimension, and XD — alongside Figma, building a cohesive, tool-verified skillset across every semester, culminating in a professionally curated portfolio and dedicated placement support.
