About the Department
The Department of Computer Science at KG College of Arts and Science was established in 2005 as one of the founding departments of the institution. The curriculum provides rigorous training in programming fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, computer architecture, operating systems, database theory, and advanced computing concepts. Dr. A. Gokilavani has been serving as an Assistant Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science in KG College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore, from June 2008 to till date. IIT Spoken Tutorial Organizer from June 2019 to till date. Dr. A. Gokilavani has 17 years of experience and specialises in digital image processing.
The vision of the department is to bring a holistic approach in media education which centers on the value of creativity added with techniques and aesthetics, encourages problem solving, creative thinking and critical analysis.

An industry-integrated lab at KGCAS, exclusively for B.Sc. Computer Science students, run entirely by KGM industry professionals. Students progress from programming fundamentals to full-stack development, complete a capstone project, gain real workplace experience through an internship, and receive dedicated placement support via KGM's employer network.
