The Department of Commerce with Information Technology organized an Alumni Guest Lecture under the department association Unicorn ’25 on 27/01/2026, titled “Skills & Myths: What Actually Matters for Success in the Corporate World.” The objective of the programme was to provide students with realistic insights into corporate life by addressing common misconceptions about success and emphasizing the practical skills truly valued in the workplace. The session aimed to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations by highlighting essential competencies such as communication, adaptability, problem-solving, teamwork, and continuous learning. The lecture was delivered by Mr. A. Vigneshwar, Data Analyst, MSCI Inc., Coimbatore, and was attended by 120 students. The programme enabled students to gain a clear understanding of real corporate expectations, identify key skills required for workplace success, and overcome common myths related to jobs, salaries, and career growth. The session enhanced their awareness of professional attitude, communication, adaptability, and lifelong learning, ultimately motivating them to develop a strong professional mindset, improve employability skills, and prepare confidently for future corporate challenges.
