Cultural and Commemorative Events
The Department regularly commemorates events such as Subramania Bharati Memorial Day, along with poetry recitation competitions and literary celebrations, bridging regional literary heritage with global traditions.
Extramural Lecture Series – KGiSL EDU Initiative
Students actively engage in the Extramural Lecture Series conducted under the aegis of KGiSL EDU. This platform promotes public speaking, online presentations, leadership skills, and academic confidence.
Global Language Certification – Cambridge BEC
A significant number of students complete the Cambridge Assessment English Business English Certification (BEC), enhancing their global communication skills and employability prospects.
Faculty Development Programme on Phonetics and Phonology
The Department organized a Six-Day Virtual Faculty Development Programme on “Phonetics and Phonology” from 29th September to 5th October. The FDP enriched faculty members with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical applications in phonology and linguistic research methodologies.
English Literary Association Activities
Under the English Literary Association, students actively participate in initiatives such as “Paavsali Kavita Wachan” (Poetry Reading) and annual celebrations of English Day (April 23). These activities nurture creativity, aesthetic appreciation, and communicative proficiency.

On 3rd April 2023, Mr. N. Moses Sunderraj, Assistant Professor, Dr. SNS Rajalakshmi College of Arts and Science (Autonomous), Coimbatore, delivered a lecture on “Communication Skills for Career Development.” The session focused on soft skills, interview techniques, and professional readiness.
