About the Department

The Department of Electronics and Communication Systems (ECS) at KGCAS focuses on imparting strong foundational knowledge in electronics, communication, and computing technologies. The programme integrates theoretical concepts with practical learning to prepare students for careers in embedded systems, communication technologies, IoT, and automation. The department emphasises hands-on training, innovation, and application-oriented education to meet evolving industry needs.

The department was established in 2013 to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in the electronics and communication sector. Since its inception, the department has developed well-equipped laboratories, introduced courses in emerging technologies such as embedded systems and IoT, and strengthened academic–industry interaction through internships, workshops, and project-based learning.

The department has also achieved significant academic distinction, securing 41 University Ranks under Bharathiar University, including 6 Gold Medals. Demonstrating its innovation culture, the department’s student team won First Prize in the Hardware Category of Smart India Hackathon 2025, receiving a cash award of ₹1,50,000.

Dr. M. Arun Prasad holds a Ph.D. in Electronics from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. He has over 12 years of teaching experience in Electronics and Communication Systems, with a strong focus on outcome-based education. His research interests include Embedded Systems and Digital Signal Processing. He is a recipient of the “Good Teacher Great Gem Award – 2024” conferred by Tamil Sangam, Kulithalai in recognition of his dedication to teaching and academic excellence.
