Department Activities
The department of Software systems and Computer Science (PG) takes initiatives for overall development of student’s skills. The department association activities organized are focused on imparting technical knowledge along its application in the practical world and career development in various domains.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized a Faculty Development Programme on “Trends and Challenges in Current Research” from 19th April 2021 to 23rd April 2021 at 2.00 pm to 3.30 pm. The objective of this FDP is to enhance the research capabilities of academicians in their respective disciplines. Dr.M.Hemalatha, Professor, School of Computer Science, Sri Ramakrishna College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore was the resource person and delivered a motivational talk on “Research Design” on Day 1 (19-04-2021). The Day 2(20-04-2021) session was handled by Dr.P.Subashini, Professor, Department of Computer Science, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women, Coimbatore and given a Constructive talk on “Art of Writing a Research Proposal”. Dr. R. Balasubramani, Assistant Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Bharathidasan University, Trichy was the resource person and delivered an interactive talk and given a practical demonstration on “Scholarly Publishing Resources for Faculty and Research Scholar” on Day 4 (21-04-2021). The Day 4(22-04-2021) session was handled by Dr.T.Pratheepan, University Librarian (Acting) ,Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka and delivered an interactive talk on “Scientific Publications in recognized & indexed journals”. Dr. Naidu Dhanpal Jayram, Assistant Professor, Department of Physics, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Krishnankoil and Dr. Vikram Srinivasa Raghavan, GCRF Researcher, Department of IAP, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was the resource person and delivered an informative talk on “Research Grants: Failures and Success and Global Challenges Research Fund-An Overview” on Day 5 (23-04-2021). The entire session covers all key aspects of Research.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted “Workshop on Python for Everyone” on 26th March 2021. The chief guest for this session was Dr. S. Malliga, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Kongu Engineering College, Erode.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an Inter Departmental Competition of “Slogan Writing Competition on Gender equality/ Women’s rights” on 23rd March 2021. The Students actively participated in this event.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted “Alumni Meet” on 13th March 2021, Most of the Alumni participated with at most responsibility.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an Interdepartmental Competition of Poster Presentation on the “National Science Day” Students Seminar on 10th March 2021 at 2.30 pm. The Students actively participated in this event.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) celebrated the “International Women’s Day” on 8th March 2021. The chief guest for this session was Dr. Vishakha Lakshmi Subbiah, MD, Family Practice Physician, San Fernando Health Center, San Fernando, California, USA.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “React JS” on 24th February 2021. The chief guest for this session was Mr. Kumararaja Palaniswamy, Associate Consultant Infosys Bangalore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized a “Producer and Consumer Programme-Hands on Training on Graphics Design” on 24th & 25th February 2021 at 10.30 am to 3.30 pm. I MSc SS, II MSc SS and III MSc SS students benefited from this programme.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted a Parents Teachers Meet-2021 on 20th February 2021 at 10.30 am. Parents attended this session and gave good feedback.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an Interdepartmental Competition on the topic “Show your talent” on 13th February 2021 on the occasion of National Women’s day. The Students from various disciplines actively participated and showed their talents.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) celebrated a National Women’s day and organized a webinar on “Igniting Young Women Minds Towards Self-Empowerment” on 13th February 2021 at 10.30 am. The chief guest for this function was Dr. Florida Tilton, Chairperson & Managing Director, Biozone Diagnostics, Chennai.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized a Webinar on “Ethical Hacking and Cyber Security-Device Targeted” on 04th February 2021 at 2.45 pm. The Resource person for this session was Mr.Dinesh Paranthagan, Ethical Hacker|Pen Tester, Founder & CEO Hackup Technology, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “Trading and International Business” on 29th January 2021 at 2.00 pm. The Resource person for this session was Mr.M.Gowtham, Junior Trader, Dhatu International Pte Ltd, Singapore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized an International Webinar on “Cisco Devnet” on 11th January 2021 at 2.00 pm. The chief guest for this session was Mrs. P. Praba, Lecturer-IT Networking,UTAS-HCT/CISCO Academy Instructor/ITC Trainer, University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Higher College of Technology, Oman.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “Recent Trends in Information Technology” on 09th January 2021 at 2.00 pm. The chief guest for this session was Mr.K.Ramu, Senior Associate, KGfSL Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “Automation in Global Business” on 02th January 2021 at 2.00 pm. The chief guest for this session was Mr. M. Karthikeyan, Associate, KGiSL-GSS, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “Creating Websites using WordPress” on 31 st December 2020 at 2.00 pm. The chief guest for this session was Mr. S. Swarna Prabhu, Web Developer, Dotkiwis, Web Design Branding Agency, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “Quality Management” on 12th December 2020 at 10.30 am. The chief guest for this session was Mr.R.Vignesh, Quality Analyst, Texila Educational and Management Services (P) Ltd, TIDEL Park, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized an Insurance Awareness Programme on 11th November 2020 at 2.00 pm. The chief guest for this session was Mr. N. Sathish Kumar, B.Sc. BL, Advocate, Coimbatore District Court, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted a Workshop-Hands on Training-Cloud Computing on 1st October 2020 at 2.00 pm. The invited Resource Person was Dr.P.Aruna Assistant Professor, Department of Software Systems, Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an Inter Departmental Competition-Online Students Seminar on “Recent Trends in Information Technology” on 30th September 2020 at 2.30 pm. The Students from various disciplines actively participated in this event.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized a Webinar on “AI and Big Data” on 11th September 2020 at 12.30 pm. The chief guest for this session was Dr. K.Geetha, Professor & Head, Department of Computer Applications, Sri Krishna Adithya College of Arts and Science, Kovaipudur, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) organized a Webinar on “Skill based Career Opportunities” on 4th September 2020 at 2.30 pm. The chief guest for this session was Dr.J.Sonu Aravindan, Guest Faculty, Department of Extension Career Guidance, School of Educational Studies, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science (PG) conducted an alumni guest lecture on the topic “Introduction to Python and Data Science” on 28th August 2021at 12.00 pm. The chief guest for this session was Mr.R.Karthik Raj, Software Engineer, Pinnacle Seven Technologies, Coimbatore.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science(PG) conducted an inter-departmental activity via Gamification (Quiz Competition on General Knowledge and Current Affairs) on 21st August 2020 at 12.30 pm. The Students from various disciplines actively participated in this event.
- The Department of Software of Systems and Computer Science(PG) and District Employment and Career Guidance Centre, Coimbatore jointly organized Career Awareness Programme on “Government Employment Opportunity, Self Confidence, TNPSC Exams-Tips and Tricks” on 19th August 2020 at 11.00 am. This session was handled by Mrs. A.Jothimani, Deputy Director DECGC, Mr.Kamal Prasath, CEO of DotWorld Technologies, Coimbatore and Ms.R.Sathya Parvathy, District Employment Officer, Coimbatore. I’m glad to tell that I have been placed in two companies, Sutherland Global services and Federal bank. I would like to tell the interview process. The first round was Essay writing, the second round was JAM, and the final round will be conducted at their office after our final exams. The interview process conducted in Federal bank was Aptitude, Group discussion and Personal interview where some basic accounting questions and personal questions were asked. I express my thanks to the SSA department faculties for training me aptitude and communication. And I’m thankful to the management and my department staffs for their guidance and support throughout this journey.

I am Iswarya. V of III B.Sc. CT -A from KG College of Arts and Science. I successfully got placed in four companies which are KGiS, Sutherland, #[24]7.ai, TCS. I also have four companies’ offer letters with me.Interview process: The interview process of KGiS was of four levels, the first level was JAM, Next was vocabulary test in which our vocabulary skills was tested and followed by it was the versant test in which we have to listen to some audios and answer the questions asked in it. After getting shortlisted in that the next was HR round in which the personal and stability questions was asked. That would be the process of KGiS The interview process of Sutherland consisted of two levels. The first level was divided into Essay writing and JAM. After getting shortlisted in this the next level will be conducted in the office premises based on the location which we choose.The interview process of #[24]7.ai was of two levels the first was a group discussion the people who got shortlisted in this was taken to the next level which was a one-on-one HR in which the certain questions were asked to test our communication skills and our stability and based on that we were shortlisted.The interview process of TCS is also of two levels the first was an online test which comprises of aptitude, vocabulary and logical reasoning. After getting shortlisted in this online test the next was the HR in which our technical skills, vocabulary skills and our stability was tested. That would be the interview process of TCS.The placement training was good and I’m grateful for the SSA team who helped me with my aptitude and my communication skills and I’m thankful for my department faculties and also the placement coordinators who helped me with the placements. This is Ankitha Kumari M from Management studies department at KG college of Arts and Science. Currently I hold 3 offers which is from TCS, SUTHERLAND AND USDC. I am going to join at USDC which is a education tech company at Bangalore. I have placed for the role of executive-operations. Talking about the interview process it was of two rounds the first round was GD and the second round was the HR Interview. The questions which were asked in the interview was the basic question like self – introduction general topics related to yourself and resume. In GD they just told us to choose your own topic in which you are feeling comfortable. Our SSA department teachers have already give training on these areas so it was quite easy to attend the interview with confidence. I am grateful to my placement team staffs and our coordinators who helped us to get over the whole interview process from the start till getting the offer letter. Happy day everyone I am Anusha Blaze flavia currently doing my third year BBA in KG College of Arts and Science. At present I hole office from 5 companies live in such great companies which were kgisl ,sutherland,TCS ,Federal bank and 24/7 AI. The interview process of each company wear it from one another which were a part of every recruitment process of these 5 companies where the aptitude round and the english Proficiency round. I also had other rounds apart from these which was the stress interview round and they also gave me cases and asked me to solve it based on which the points were given .I was bale to crack such difficult interviews because of the training which was given by the SSA department .The training was given to us right from my second year where we were segregate based on our ability and separate training was given to us accordingly .I am grateful for the SSA department, the placement and also my department staff which is the management Studies. They’ve always been with me through out the whole process and all these three years and they’ve always encouraged n pushed me to participate in all these interviews,.I am very much greatful and thankful for the management for giving me this wonderful platform of opportunities. I would like to adress that it would be even more better if we are provided with this SAP courses and also some additional courses which would help us to be prepared in ready for the future

My name is Vishnu Pradeep pursuing a bachelor of computer science at KG College of Arts and Science. I am excited to share about my Placement experience at KGCAS.I am currently holding 2 job offers. I was successfully placed at FacePrep and ZOHO.The interview processes for these companies were quite different. FacePrep, The first company's interview process involved a four-pronged approach, including a group discussion, a "just a minute" round, an HR interview, and a technical interview. The second company followed a three-step selection process consisting of aptitude tests, including a general and advanced level, followed by a final technical interview. The second company ZOHO followed a three-step selection process consisting of aptitude tests, including a general and advanced level, followed by a final technical interview.The placement training offered by KGCAS was very effective in assisting me with my job search. It helped me develop my confidence in public speaking, allowing me to comfortably participate in group discussions at both companies. Additionally, the training significantly improved my English fluency, making me a more articulate communicator during the interviews. I am especially grateful to the SSA team for their guidance and support. The interview process at Federal Bank consisted of three challenging rounds: aptitude, group discussion, and HR interview.
